Het Grote Sinterklaasverhaal is een tweeluik. Een verhaal dat uitnodigt te kijken met de ogen van een kind…Het Grote Sinterklaasverhaal schreef ik al zeven jaar geleden en verscheen in 2013 op aanraden mijn zoon Larson.
Met dit verhaal hoop ik het sprookje als vanouds weer te laten sprankelen en groot en klein te verbinden. Geen kleine droom, nee. Een hele grote en een hele mooie!
Het eerste verhaal gaat over Joris Enverderniets die samen met regenworm Henk in een kuil woont. Maar dan wordt het koud. Joris wenst zichzelf een deken. Henk leert hem de bijzondere gebruiken van het sinterklaasfeest. Maar als de schoen van Joris leeg blijft verlaat hij zijn kuil…
Het tweede verhaal gaat over Hoofdpiet Nummertwee. Als Nummertwee een brief van Liesbeth vindt, raakt hij in de war. Liesbeth vraagt zich af wie Zwarte Piet nou echt is. Jullie lijken allemaal op elkaar, schrijft ze. Jullie doen hetzelfde, jullie heten allemaal hetzelfde. Wie ben jij, jij die pakjes in mijn schoen stopt? Hoofdpiet Nummertwee besluit te staken. Samen met Truus, een naaktslak, gaat Nummertwee op zoek naar zichzelf. Maar als je kijkt met de ogen van een kind…

‘The Great Big Sinter Class Story’ consists of two interconnecting stories. Lorena Veldhuijzen wrote the book in 2008 and, encouraged by her eldest son, published a limited edition in 2013. Lorena hopes to breathe new life into this old fairytale and enable its magic to connect people of all ages yet again.
The first story is about Joris Andfurthernoname who lives in a ditch with an earthworm called Henk. It gets cold and Joris wishes he had a blanket. Henk educates him about the special customs of the Sinterklaas festivities. However, when Joris finds his shoe still empty, he leaves his ditch.
The second story is about Hoofdpiet Numbertwo who finds a letter in a shoe belonging to a girl called Liesbeth. Liesbeth wonders who Zwarte Piet really is. ‘You all look alike’, she writes. ‘You act the same, you have the same name. Who are you, you who leaves the presents in my shoe?’ Hoofdpiet Numbertwo decides to go on strike. Together with Truus, a garden slug, he embarks on a quest to find himself. However, when you view things through a child’s eye…
